IIT BHU | Department of Electronics Engineering

The 19th Century had seen rapid progress in electrical science, it becoming the driving force behind the Second Industrial Revolution after the invention of light bulb and Electric motors. Sooner a more complex discipline was born with the development of Telephone, Radio and Television equipment It was only in the late 1950s that the term Electronic Engineering witnessed it’s emergence. And the major part of Electronics is basically the Communication system. So we know that nowadays communication is one of the important aspect there particularly where revolution has started Mobile Communication and Optical Communication Micro Communication is also there, In fact without Communication our life is incomplete almost, we cannot complete life without having Electronic Communication System in place. The Department of Electronics Engineering came in to existence as an offshoot of Electrical Engineering Department in the year 1971. With great efforts from Professror S.S. Banerjee. In the same year the erstwhile Banaras Engineering College (BENCO) College of Mining and Metallurgy and College of Technology were amalgamated to form the Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University ,IT BHU. Electronics, deals with the flow of electrons the various Circuits and Systems and this is a branch which is mother for all kinds of Communication, automation and control devices. The Department offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Programs in Electronics Engineering with a major thrust upon areas of Micro Electronics, Microwave Engineering, Digital Techniques and Instrumentations and Communication Systems. It’s such a great opportunity to study in such a great organization. IIT BHU is really a very good University and it provides us a lots of facilities Like, before coming here I I didn’t have much idea about how the college is but after coming here I have never regretted about my decision. I was very thankful that I have taken the correct decision. The biggest advantage was the Club which run here were very dedicated and were very active and the senior things those Clubs were very interactive and they helped they help us in improving our skills The Department has been actively engaged in Research since it’s inception The first major financial support from the Department of Electronics Government of India in the tune of Rs. 1 Crore was received by the Department in 1980 to carry out Research for Development of High Power Microwave Tubes. As we know that the Fossil fuels in nature are very limited and in future one day they will end so different sources of Energy is required. Hydrogen is it’s best source but the problem with Hydrogen is that it’s transportation is very costly. it’s storage is also costly because it’s inflammable so to detect and monitor it a particular Censor is required. So the work related to my area is Room Temperature Hydrogen Detection. Currently the Department of Electronics Engineering is continuously working with Micro Electronics, Microwave Digital Techniques and Instrumentation, Communication Systems and a lot more. Currently I am working on the Physical aspects of Fifth Generation Wireless Communication. So I am dubbing some algorithms so which are quite effective in giving a quality of service to the users. To support the students as well as the Researcher, The Department has a Micro Electronics Laboratory a virtual Device Fabrication and Simulation Laboratory, a Micro Processor Laboratory, a Microwave Engineering Laboratory, a Tinkering Lab, A Company by numerous other highly Equipped Laboratories. Here, if you will go at any other Academics then you will not find anywhere such a big Chamber this is the only Chamber of IIT BHU, which is so big which can measure the Frequency from 700 Megahertz to 25 Gigahertz , or we can say 700 Megahertz- 25 Gigahertz. With the increasing implementation of Electronics, in our routine lives with every passing day , the Department is leaving no stones unturned to lead in the field of Electronic Engineering Education, Research and Development.
