How to Fix a Laptop Fan

How to Fix a Laptop Fan. If your laptop is overheating or making a
grinding sound, you may need to give your fan an overhaul. You will need A screwdriver A manual and compressed
air. Step 1. Open your laptop’s case. Read your owner’s manual for directions on
correct housing removal. Make sure the computer is turned off, unplugged,
and the battery is removed. Step 2. Unplug the fan from the motherboard. You may need to refer to your manual. Step 3. Lift and gently remove the fan. Each system is different, but you’ll probably
have to remove a couple of screws. Step 4. Blow compressed air around the area to get
rid of any dust or debris. Step 5. Look for and remove any debris that may be
caught in the fan blades and replace the fan. Step 6. Plug the fan back into your motherboard and
put the case back together. Step 7. Turn the computer on and verify that the fan
is working. Did you know Setting your laptop on a soft
surface, such as a bed, pillow, or lap, can block airflow and cause your laptop to overheat.

    You could just clean the dust out of the fan with a can of compressed air. Unless the fan is actually broken.
