Hi David, have you heard/seen how an update from win 10 is preventing VMware from launching? I noticed it when I launched gns3 and gns3 wouldn't launch. Not sure if this would be relevant to you but at the moment, I can't run gns3 vm. At the moment, o can't use it at it's finest. I have VMware pro v 12. Maybe you heard something about this?

Before I had question you about gns3 2.2.0 on AMD pc. IOU not Not working…but gns3 founder said gns3 2.2.0 only for Intel pc

    Hi David,

I'm one of your students on Udemy and I'm using a HP Elitedesk computer with Intel processor, 32 GB RAM

I followed this tutorial and I got some errors.

The import failed because C:UsersblahDesktopKitsGNS3 VM.ova did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks.

(Clicked Retry) – It looks like GNS3 VM started ok

Shut down GNS3 VM and started GNS3 GUI

    Got an error:

    c:Program Files (x86)VMwareVMware Workstation>vmrun -T ws checkToolsState "c:UsersblahDocumentsVirtual MachinesGNS3 VMGNS3 VM.vmx"

Error while saving settings: GNS3VM: Error while executing VMware command: vmrun has returned an error: unknown

GNS3 2.2 is unable to start GNS3 VM.

Run: C:"Program Files (x86)VMwareVMware Workstation"vmrun.exe' T ws checkToolsState 'C:UsersblahDocuments"Virtual MachinesGNS3 VM"GNS3 VM.vmx in command CLI (as Administrator) same result: unknown

    Do you have any clue?

Thank you so much. I've been using IOU/EVE for my CCNP studies, but I kinda wanted to move to GNS3, so definitely looking forward to try this at home. Much appreciated as always David 🙂

    Hi David,

What is the benefit of installing both GNS3 GUI and VM (vmware or another) vs installing GUI only? or installing GUI on one pc and VM on ESXi server?
    I did not get that.
I mean if both GUI and VM are installed on the same pc, then they are using the same resources (cpu & ram).

    Thanks for your answer.-

is none going to address the fact that WMware 12 and 14 are currently NOT working on windows 10 due to the 1903 update of windows that breaks the program????!! could you please address this as i am sure many people would like to continue to use their VMware labs with gns3 and VIRL images!!!
i had to install windows server 2012 on in my dell blade so i could rebuild my GNS3 lab with VMware 12 with VIRL images
