e-cycleNYC: NYC’s Free Electronic Recycling Program (Extended)

December 4, 2019

Electronic waste is the largest and fastest growing household hazardous waste in New York City. But many New Yorkers don’t have access to a vehicle, so schlepping an old TV or computer to be recycled isn’t easy. That’s why the Department of Sanitation partnered with Electronic Recyclers International to create e-cycleNYC. This free and convenient electronics recycling program is for residential buildings over 10 units. Accepted items include household and office electronics as well as entertainment and smaller electronics. To meet your buildings needs e-cycleNYC can provide a secure electronic selection bin which is available in two sizes or can arrange to pick up items from an internal storage location. Signing up is easy. Submit an online form and an outreach specialist will visit your building. After deciding on the best service option you’ll sign an agreement and you’re in! We’ll also send free educational materials for your residents and staff. When your bin is full or you have collected 20 items call or email us for a pickup. While you should erase personal items from all hard drives ERI will completely destroy the data guaranteeing its safety. ERI is the largest electronics recycler in the U.S. and is certified for complying with the highest environmental and industry standards. Not eligible for e-cycleNYC? You can always drop off your electronics at these locations free of charge
